Christopher S Allbright says
Over the last several days, the image that keeps coming back to my mind is of Bob water skiing. He would sail smoothly behind the boat for a while, but he was never satisfied to stay in gentle waters. He would skim back and forth from one side of the boat to the other, skipping over the wake on a solitary slalom ski, using one hand on the handle, touching the water with the other, and leaning into the wind. He contended with the elements like he contended with people — at full throttle.
He was a tireless skier, and attempts by a driver to shake him were fruitless – weaving, circling, or doing figure-8s.
Eventually, he would decide to quit. He would take a last, firm grasp of the handles, snap them together, and then throw the rope high up into the air as he released the boat. Then, I picture him sinking slowly into the calming waters.
Kyle Jankowski says
It has been many years since I have seen Bob, but my last memory with him was a nighttime fire at Torch Lake. I was fretting and venting about “wise career paths” and where it would take me. Bob was extremely encouraging of my vocational path (Social Work)and offered some calming advice and genuine interest in my vocation, which was invaluable that that part of my life. Thanks Bob, time for you to travel the heavens.

A once great man that seemingly lost his way.
It brings tears to my eyes to read the memories that others were able to share with Bob. It reminds me of my own time spent with him, memories become so valuable when no more can be made.
I can only hope that those good times remebered can one day take place of the more recent ones.
He was my uncle, he will be missed.
